Ag Council President Emily Rooney was honored with the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation Profiles in Leadership Award on October 6 in Fresno.

The award recognizes accomplished alumni who are devoted to serving their community in a variety of ways and seeks to award those who demonstrate leadership in action resulting in the betterment of industry, community, business, government, education and/or the environment.

Ag Council Board of Directors Chair Jeannine Campos Grech said, “There has been no greater advocate than Emily. Her commitment to ensuring that there is a future for agriculture in California is evident through her tireless work with FFA, Ag Leadership and her involvement in keeping our communities healthy through her service with Valley Children’s Healthcare.”

Emily dedicates her time and expertise to multiple agricultural and community organizations.
As a member of Class 39, she is an active alum, serving on the board of the California Ag Leadership Foundation and as chair of the audit committee.
She is chair of the FFA Foundation, serves on the Trustee Council at California Farmland Trust, and on the Executive Council for the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives.

In an effort to expand outreach and better communicate state public policy issues that impact agriculture, Emily launched Ag Council’s Capitol Farm Connection podcast, which has released over 50 episodes featuring guests such as agricultural leaders, legislators, water experts and others.

Giving time to her local community is a priority, as well. She coaches her son’s soccer team and serves on Valley Children’s Healthcare Board of Trustees.

Congratulations to Emily!
