California Competes Tax Credit
The California Competes Tax Credit (CCTC) is offered through the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) and is awarded on a competitive basis for businesses staying and growing in California. Businesses of any size and in any location in the state can apply.
The business’ ability to create new, full-time jobs that might not otherwise be created is a key consideration for the tax credit.
Applicants are evaluated according to various factors, such as: the extent of unemployment or poverty in the area, number of jobs created or retained, training offered for employees, amount of investment, overall economic impact, and the strategic importance of the business to the local region and the state, among other factors.
A CCTC fact sheet by GO-Biz is available HERE.
The deadline to apply for the current application period is August 15, 2022. The next CCTC application period will open on January 3, 2023.
